Dashain

The Dashain, the largest festival of the Nepalese, lasting 15 days. During this festival Goddess Durga (The goddess of power) is worshiped. People worship her for nine days. This period is called Nava – Ratri. People visit the temples of goddess Durga. She is worshiped sacrificing birds and animals. The tenth day is called day of victory – Vijaya Dashami. On this day Rama got victory over Ravana. The superiors bless the juniors by putting Tika on their fore-heads and Jamara on their heads. People feed and have feast to their relative.

Nuwakot

Nuwakot bears a special importance in the history of modern Nepal as King Prithivi Narayan Shah-the great the first, King of modern Nepal planned and launched several unification campaigns of Nepal from this historic town . A pagoda style building popularly known as the seven storey palace stand as the landmark of Nuwakot and it was built shortly after Prthivi Narayan Shah’s arrival.
